NPFL 2023: Remo Stars Goalie Bags Safest Hands Award

Kayode Bankole has clinched the award for the clean sheet kept in the 2023 abridged NPFL season, doing so 9 times in 17 appearances, considering he was on the bench in the 3-1 loss to Akwa United back in February.

The 20-year-old goalie joined the Sky Blue Stars in 2020 from Shooting Stars where he never kept a ball during the 2019-20 season, going on to make his club professional debut for Remo Stars.

Kayode shut the door in 12 league games out of the 17 he stood between the sticks for the Sky Blues Stard, only conceding 11 goals in five games, making his stride more impressive.

Remo Stars finished second in Group A for the regular season conceding 14 goals in general, posing as the league's joint-third-best defence alongside Akwa United in Group A and Sunshine Stars in Group B.

Amas Obasogie of Bendel Insurance came joint-second-best with 8 clean sheets alongside Jean Efala of Akwa United, with each of Mustapha Lawal and Emmanuel Daniel on 7 clean sheets apiece, completing the top five best goalkeepers list.
