Assistant Coach of Abia Warriors, Igwe Madubike has set sights on beating Rivers United in a rescheduled MatchDay 29 NPFL encounter, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Abia Warriors will confront the Pride of Rivers in one of their outstanding matches at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Wednesday.

In his pre-match interview, Madubuike believes his players always rise to the occasion when they come up against big teams.

"We should expect victory from the lads. We have prepared them and told them what to do. We expect it to yield results. We are going to beat Rivers United. We are not doubting that because the spirit of the players is very high.

"In a big game like this one against Rivers United, our team produce positive results because they know that Rivers United are more experienced than them but that won't hinder them from beating Rivers United."

Skipper of Abia Warriors, Augustine Njoku said the entire coaching crew and players are working hard to beat their opponents and boost their chances of going higher on the league table.

"We will give to the fans nothing short but victory because they have missed us. I believe the fans have missed us and come Wednesday, we are not going to give anything short of victory.

"Our position in the league table is not that good but the three points on Wednesday will boost the team higher on the league table. We are working together and the coaches are putting everything together to make sure we are in good shape for the game."
