NPFL 24: Lobi Stars Won't Underrate Akwa United, Says Agagbe
Precious Oham
Head Coach of Lobi Stars, Eugene Agagbe has said his team will not underrate Akwa United when both sides clash on MatchDay 13 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.Â
The 'Yes Father Boys' will confront Akwa United, who are languishing in the 18th position on the log at the Eket Township Stadium.Â
According to Agagbe, his team will approach the game with a different style of play adding that the target is to secure the maximum points.Â
Agagbe, who disclosed that the target of the team is to secure a continental ticket, noted that they won't rule out the possibility of winning the league title.Â
His words: "We approach every game with a different style of play and here in Eket, we are going to approach it with a different style. Our target here is to play and go back with our three points. We are here for victory.
"We are here and will do what we have been doing with other teams. We will do our best and also play very well so that at the end of the day, we will carry the day.
"We will not underrate them because they are in the same competition as us. Anything can happen even though they have drawn at home or lost away.
"You can't look down on Akwa United despite that they are down on the log. Maybe, they have one or two challenges they are facing. We are not going to look down on them and relax in our play.
"If you look at the way we are playing, we are accumulating the points for a target that we have set within ourselves. Our target this season is to end among the top three which will give us a continental ticket but if anything comes outside the top three, we will give Glory to God."
The last time the two league giants met in an NPFL tie was in the 2021/2022 season, both clubs were comfortable at home in head-to-head statistics. Lobi Stars won 1-0 in Makurdi while Akwa United won with the same score-line in the reverse fixture in Uyo.
