NPFL 24: Victory Over Rivers United Will Boost Abia Warriors' Survival Chances - Bethel Orji

Precious Oham

Coach Bethel Orji has said that the two-nil win over Rivers United will boost their chances to stay afloat in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Striker, Obi Samson scored his seventh league goal of the season as Abia Warriors moved back to the top half of the NPFL table following a 2-0 victory over Rivers United at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

Orji, who praised the heroics of Paschal Nwabueze said his fine display in the encounter was as a result of training from the coaching crew to develop his game.

"As a coach, we keep training them every day. If any of your players you see that have a shortcoming, you try to develop them so that they can improve. We did a lot of ball work, movement with the ball and off the ball which played off today.

"This is what I have been dreaming to win this match. Assuming we drew this match, that means we will sink but with this victory, I believe we can get more victories in subsequent matches."

Abia Warriors will now set their sights on the round of 32 President Federation Cup against Sporting Supreme FC of Abuja in Benin City, Edo State, on the 22nd of May 2024.
