NPFL 24: Why Heartland Played Against Enyimba In Friendly - Christian Obi

Precious Oham

Heartland FC head coach, Christian Obi has disclosed that the friendly game with Enyimba was meant to gauge the performance of the club's players who were yet to gain much playing time in the ongoing season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Naze Millionaires were dazed 4-0 by the rampant People's Elephants at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba on Wednesday but Obi told the club media that he and his technical crew did not regret the action.

The former Flying Eagles player said the game provided the club coaches first-hand information on the true state of his remaining players and he would seize the opportunity again in the future if another game is available.

He charged the club's fans to continue to support the team despite the current phase it is going through as the players, coaches and other officials of the team are looking forward toendingd the season on a strong note starting with the home fixture with Gombe United next weekend.

"We should not take the result of the game as something that important. We got the offer to play the friendly game with Enyimba and decided to use it to test our other players that have not been given enough chances to play.

"The coaches have taken notes of the what transpired in Aba and it will be used to correct the players going forward. The team is going through a rough patch but we are determined to end the season positively.

"The game with Gombe United is our present concern and we are preparing very hard to ensure we get the maximum points in the game and subsequent games."
