NPFL 25: Confusion In Lobi Stars As Governor's Cash Gift Tears Management Apart
Precious Oham
More woes has continued to bedevil relegation-bound Lobi Stars after the club management retrieved Governor Hyacinth Alia's cash gift after the one-nil defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
This was contained in a statement by the club's media team.
The statement reads: "At Lobi Stars Football Club, we uphold transparency, accountability, and professionalism in all our dealings. It is in this light that we wish to address a recent development regarding financial motivation presented to the team before their match against El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.
"Prior to the game, a member of the club’s board, Mr. Harry Yachi, claimed he was sent by the Executive Governor of Benue State to boost the morale of the players and staff with financial support. The said funds were handed over to the team captain, Solomon Kwambe, on behalf of the players and to the Team Manager on behalf of the staff, with the clear understanding that it was an encouragement from the state’s leadership.
"However, in an unexpected and disappointing turn of events, Mr. Yachi retrieved the same money after the match, contradicting the purpose for which it was given. This act has now been verified, and we find it necessary to inform the public accordingly.
"As an organization committed to integrity, we initially made it known that the financial motivation was received, and it is only right that we now confirm its retrieval. Lobi Stars FC remains focused on professionalism and the welfare of its players and staff, and we appreciate the genuine support from all well-meaning stakeholders.
"We urge our esteemed fans, partners, and supporters to continue standing by the team as we push forward in our quest for excellence."
