NPFL 25: Imama Targets Bendel Insurance Scalp In Benin

Abia Warriors gaffer, Imama Amapakabo says they want to maintain the momentum against Bendel Insurance at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City this weekend, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Warriors are already in Benin ahead of the Matchday 8 fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League against a side they have never beaten in the league, although they have only met twice at this level.

Bendel Insurance defeated Abia Warriors by a lone goal when both sides met in Benin last season, while the reverse fixture ended in a goalless draw in Umuahia.

In the next 24 hours both sides will be meeting yet again in the league, and Amapakabo is not bothered about Bendel Insurance's unbeaten record against Umu Chineke.

"There will always be a first time, like I said earlier too, every game is different from the other game. I was not here when they met, and to me, history does not count for me. When you are able to do on that day the things that are right, run faster, jump higher, shoot better, dribble well, defend well and at the end of the day, it's the team that so desires that will get it.

"We lost badly in Nasarawa but we came back home, where we came from behind, did very well, won well too. So, I think we are going into that game with a good footing, while they are also coming after a slim loss against Remo Stars, so, like I said, different mentality.

"We watched ourselves play a little bit in pre-season in Yenagoa, so, this is the real deal, and like I said, we have two games to play for, and six points for us, maybe, we might meet again in the Federation Cup if both of us are able to get there, but meanwhile, both teams have six points to play for, for this season", he said.

The match between the Benin Arsenals and Umu Chineke is billed to take place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, on Saturday, 26th October 2024. Kickoff time is 4pm.
