NPFL 25: Rangers Will Build On Sunshine Stars Result For Next Game - Ilechukwu
Precious Oham
Fidelis Ilechukwu of Rangers International has said that his side will build on the result against Sunshine Stars for their next NPFL game, BSNSPorts.com.ng reports.
A brace from fast-pace winger Bashir Usman and another goal by Kingsley Maduforo in a dominant first-half display ensured that reigning NPFL champions earned the maximum points at stake in a match day 26, NPFL 2024/2025 fixture as Sunshine Stars FC got stunned by three unreplied goals.
Usman grabbed a brace within three minutes as he reacted the quickest inside the opponent’s box and dribbled past the goalkeeper before stabbing home the opening goal of the match on 25 minutes while volleying in a chipped cross from Godwin Obaje on 28 minutes to complete his brace.
Maduforo swept home the third goal for the ‘Flying Antelopes’ on 41 minutes as he connected with Isaac Saviour’s cross while on the stroke of half-time, Obaje missed a sitter as Evans Ogbonda’s incisive cross went begging.
Ilechukwu, in his post-match chat, said, “I think that in today’s game, in as much as we won the game, it was not the best of Rangers. I think we had opportunities to harvest the chances we created today, but we were only able to convert three.
"However, we take the positives from this encounter into our next match with the hope of building on them.”
With the victory, Rangers now occupy the 3rd spot on the log after 26 rounds of matches with 41 points behind Remo Stars and 3SC and will next trade tackles with Kano Pillars FC at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
