NPFL 25: Remo Stars Shine In South-West Derby As Rivers United Thrash Heartland

Remo Stars continued their perfect start to the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, campaign with a slim 1-0 victory over Sunshine Stars, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The game was the first South-West derby of the season decided at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. 

It was a debut goal for Shuaib Ibrahim, who met a lofted ball from Ifeanyi Anaemena before beating the defender for strength and finished with aplomb in the 7th minute. 

The Sky Blue Stars have now gone over 180 minutes of action to secure back-to-back victories and clean sheets. 

Elsewhere, Rivers United earned their first maximum points of the season with a comfortable 3-1 win over struggling Heartland FC. 

A brace from Kabir Abdullahi and a goal from Taofeek Otaniyi secured the maximum points for the Pride of Rivers. 

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Amuneke has now tasted back-to-back defeats in his opening two games with the Naze Millionaires.
