NPFL 25: Rivers Beat 3SC To Go Top As Insurance, Plateau Utd Pick Home Wins

Rivers United defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan 2-0 to climb top of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table with 17 points, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Aniekeme Okon, Ndifreke Efiong (51', 65') scored the two goals in the second half to help the former champions rose to the summit of the league table.

In Jos, Plateau United beat Remo Stars 3-1 with early goal from Franklin Ebuka in the 4th minute before completing a brace in the 71st minute. A goal from each of Sadiq Abubakar (64') and Malik Jabbar in 83rd minute completed the four-goal thriller.

Resurgent Ikorodu City picked a point on the road after a hard fought 1-1 draw at Heartland FC. Chukwuma Agor 66th minute goal cancelled out Salau Yusuf early goal for the Lagos club.

Katsina United pipped drowning Akwa United 1-0 to claim all three points at home in a Matchday 7 fixture.

Rivers United are topping the table with 17 points, closely followed by Remo Stars who have garnered 15 points. Enyimba FC, Plateau United and Katsina United are in third fourth and fifth positions with 14, 11 and 11 points respectively. At the bottom, Ikorodu City (5 points), Akwa United (5 points) and Bayelsa United (6 points) are swimming in the relegation waters after occupying the 20th, 19th and 18th positions respectively.
