NPFL 26: Rangers Won't Underrate Kano Pillars, Says Coach
Precious Oham
Rangers International Chief Coach, Ekeh Ekenedilichukwu has expressed a cautious but confident outlook ahead of the crunch match day four NPFL fixture against Kano Pillars, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The encounter is scheduled for Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
Speaking on behalf of the eight-time Nigeria league champions, the coach stated that the fixture is more than just a regular league match for the "Flying Antelopes" but it's an opportunity for redemption.
"We are going to Kano to do our best and hope to come out with a positive result," he stated.
"Pillars are not a small side, and we respect them for what they have been able to produce in the domestic league.
"But when we take a retrospective view of what happened last season, we are fired up to get the maximum points at stake. I believe that we have what it takes to make our fans and supporters happy at the end of the encounter on Sunday by God's special grace."
This sentiment was echoed by Rangers' assistant captain, Evans Ogbonda, who emphasized the team's motivation.
"Kano Pillars FC are no doubt a very top side in the country with quality players in their ranks. But we are going to Kano to build on the result we got in our last match. We expect a tough encounter, but that is not our concern.
"We are motivated to get a very good result in Kano just as they did over us last season in Enugu. My teammates and I appreciate what is at stake, and we are prepared to give the match all the attention it deserves to ensure we return to Enugu with smiles."
The clash also carries significant weight in the league standings. Rangers currently sit in 11th place with four points from three matches (one win, one draw, one loss).
