Sampson Adedeji
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has confirmed that clubs finishing across all positions in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will receive financial rewards under the league's newly enhanced revenue structure, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The announcement comes after the confirmation that the league champions will earn a record ₦1 billion in prize money, while the second and third-placed teams will receive ₦500 million and ₦300 million respectively.
According to the NSC, clubs that finish from fourth to 20th position will also benefit financially, ensuring that every team participating in the league receives a share of the improved revenue package.
The commission, however, did not disclose the specific amounts that will be allocated to clubs occupying positions fourth to 20th on the final league table.
The development is expected to provide a major financial boost to NPFL clubs, improve competitiveness across the league, and encourage teams to remain motivated throughout the season regardless of their position on the standings.
The enhanced reward system is widely seen as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the NPFL and improve the overall standard of club football in Nigeria.
