NPFL Fines Warri Wolves, To Play Behind Closed Doors

Nigeria Premier Football League side Warri Wolves have been sanctioned by the league body for breaching the NPFL Framework and Rules during their Matchday 36 clash against Plateau United played on Sunday, May 3, 2026, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to the NPFL, the club failed to provide adequate and effective security during the encounter, which led to unauthorized persons gaining access to restricted areas of the stadium.

The league also accused the club’s supporters of engaging in unsporting behaviour capable of bringing the game into disrepute.

In addition, the supporters were found guilty of gross misconduct towards match officials, an incident which reportedly caused a 10-minute delay during the game.

As part of the sanctions, Warri Wolves were fined N2 million for failing to provide adequate security.

The club was also handed a N1 million fine for the unsporting behaviour of its supporters, while an additional N3 million fine was imposed for misconduct directed at match officials.

Furthermore, the NPFL ordered Warri Wolves to play their remaining home matches behind closed doors.

The league body also directed the club to identify, apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the incidents and submit evidence of such actions to the NPFL.

Warri Wolves have been given 48 hours from the date of notice to appeal the sanctions.
