NPFL Lifts Lekan Salami Ban As 3SC Set To Host Kano Pillars In Ibadan

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has lifted its ban on the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasinga, Ibadan, granting Shooting Stars S.C. a timely boost as the season approaches a decisive phase.

With the restriction removed, Shooting Stars will return to their home ground this weekend to host Kano Pillars F.C. in a rescheduled Matchday 28 fixture on Sunday. The Oluyole Warriors will be seeking a strong response following a heavy 4–1 defeat to Plateau United F.C. in their previous outing.

The stadium had earlier been barred from hosting league matches due to concerns over the condition of its playing surface. During that period, Shooting Stars played their home fixtures at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.

Shooting Stars currently sit eighth on the NPFL table with 38 points from 26 matches, remaining within reach of the top positions as the campaign gathers momentum.

At the summit, Rivers United F.C. have reclaimed first place with 46 points from 24 matches, narrowly ahead of Ikorodu City F.C. on 45 points. Rangers International F.C. and Nasarawa United F.C. occupy third and fourth positions respectively, both on 44 points, underlining the intensity of the title race.

At the other end of the table, the relegation battle continues to take shape. Kwara United F.C. remain rooted to the bottom in 20th place, while Remo Stars F.C. (19th), Kun Khalifat F.C. (18th), and Bayelsa United F.C. (17th) are all entrenched in the relegation zone as the fight for survival intensifies.

With just weeks remaining in the 2024–25 campaign, both the championship race and the battle to avoid the drop promise a dramatic conclusion.
