NPFL Match Day 10 Review: Abia Warriors, Plateau Utd, Wikki Tourists Pick Home Wins As Kwara Utd Hold Rangers In Enugu

It was a thrilling weekend in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) as Match Day 10 produced exciting results across various centres, with Abia Warriors, Plateau United, and Wikki Tourists all recording important home victories, while Rangers were held to a stalemate in Enugu, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In Umuahia, Abia Warriors cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win over Barau FC. Emeka Obioma opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Sunday Megwo doubled the lead in the 62nd minute to secure all three points for the hosts.

At the New Jos Stadium, Plateau United continued their fine home form with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Enyimba International.

Monday Gideon put the hosts ahead in the 50th minute, but Jonathan Jacob equalized for the People’s Elephant in the 68th minute.

However, Gideon completed his brace in the 76th minute to hand Plateau the win.

In Warri, Warri Wolves delivered a dominant display to defeat Bayelsa United 2-0. Igbunu Evwierhurhoma was the hero of the day, scoring in the 14th minute and sealing the win with another strike deep into stoppage time (90+4’).

The encounter at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium saw Rangers International drop valuable points as they were held to a goalless draw by Kwara United.

Despite creating several chances, the Flying Antelopes failed to find a breakthrough against a resolute Harmony Boys’ defence.

In Bauchi, Wikki Tourists secured a convincing 2-0 win over Shooting Stars (3SC). Abdullahi Usman broke the deadlock in the 31st minute before Jonathan Mairiga made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute to put the game beyond the visitors.

Match Day 10 results highlight the fierce competition in the NPFL, with home teams largely dominating proceedings while Kwara United stood out as the only away side to earn a point on the road.
