NPFL Matchday 16 Review: Remo Stars Edge Enyimba As Rivers United Share Spoils With Abia Warriors

Remo Stars claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Enyimba in a pulsating Matchday 16 clash in Abeokuta on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Victor Mbaoma was the hero for the Sky Blue Stars, scoring both goals against his former club. He opened the scoring in the third minute before Enyimba’s Edidiong Ezekiel restored parity in the 32nd minute.

Mbaoma, however, sealed the win for Remo Stars with a clinical finish just before half-time. In Umuahia, former champions Rivers United were held to a dramatic 1-1 draw by Abia Warriors.

Maclyn Biokpo gave Rivers United the lead late in the game, but Suraj Lawal rescued a point for the hosts with a stoppage-time equaliser.

At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Kano Pillars secured a 2-1 win over Kun Khalifat, thanks to a brace from Rabiu Ali. Ebuka Nwokorie scored the lone goal for the visitors.

Rangers International recorded the biggest win of the day, hammering Bayelsa United 4-1. Chidozie Iwundu scored twice, while Kenechukwu Agu and Chimobi Igwilo also found the net. Issah Yusuf scored Bayelsa United’s consolation.

Elsewhere, Wikki Tourists and Ikorodu City played out a goalless draw in Bauchi, while El-Kanemi Warriors and Barau FC also shared the spoils in a 0-0 stalemate in Maiduguri.

In Ilorin, Kwara United cruised to a 2-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes, with Babatunde Bright and Seun Ogunribide getting the goals.
