Plateau United did enough on Sunday to close gap on Rivers United as they secured a 1-0 win over Kano Pillars on the Matchday 32 of the Nigerian Professional Football League, BSNsports.com.ng reports.

Jesse Akila's 38th minute goal was enough to hand Plateau United maximum points on a day league leader Rivers United fell 1-0 to Wikki Tourists in Bauchi.

In Ilorin, Issa Gata and former league top scorer Junior Lokosa scored as the host Kwara United defeated Katsina United 2-0.

The unimpressive performance of Shooting Stars continued as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Dakkada FC in Uyo.

Emmanuel Ayaosi netted the opening goal in the 27th minute before Aniekan Ekpe added the second goal in the 56th minute, the Oluyole Warriors had the opportunity to reduce the deficit in the 78th minute when they were awarded a spot kick but goalkeeper Loveday saved Sochima Elum's kick to the anguish of the Oluyole Warriors bench.

Red-hot Sikiru Alimi proved to be a good bargain for Remo Stars as he continued from where he stopped against Shooting Stars in MatchDay 31 Southwest Derby, as his 17th-minute strike handed the Sky Blues Stars a 1-0 victory over Gombe United.

With the results, Plateau United has reduced the gap between them and Rivers Utd to 7 points.
