NPFL Moves Key Fixture Amid Title and Relegation Battle
By Niyi Busari
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has rescheduled the Matchday 36 fixture between Ikorodu City and Wikki Tourists, moving it from May 3 to May 5, 2026, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
According to a statement released by the league body, the adjustment was necessitated by the Lagos State Federation Cup final, which is set to take place on the originally scheduled date.
The encounter will still be held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, which is also the venue for the Federation Cup final.
“Matchday 36 fixture, Ikorodu City v Wikki Tourists has been rescheduled from May 3 to May 5 owing to the Lagos State Federation Cup final to hold at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on May 3,” the NPFL said in its official communication.
The fixture carries significant implications at both ends of the table. Ikorodu City are in contention for their first NPFL title, while Wikki Tourists are fighting to avoid relegation as the season approaches its conclusion.
