NPFL Reviews: Ikorodu City Shock Enyimba In Aba; Shooting Stars Thrash Warri Wolves

It was a dramatic matchday in the Nigeria Professional Football League as Ikorodu City stunned former champions Enyimba International in Aba, while Shooting Stars Sports Club recorded an emphatic victory over Warri Wolves in Abeokuta, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Shooting Stars 4-2 Warri Wolves

At the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) delivered a commanding performance to defeat Warri Wolves 4-2.

Peter Ita had given the visitors an early lead in the 7th minute, but Sodiq Ibrahim restored parity for the hosts four minutes later. 

Lucky Emmanuel put Shooting Stars ahead in the 29th minute before Desmond Ojietefian extended the advantage in the 38th minute to hand the Ibadan-based side a comfortable 3-1 lead at the break.

Stephen Amos added the fourth goal in the 69th minute to seal the contest, while Othuke Egbo grabbed a late consolation for Warri Wolves in the 86th minute.

Enyimba 0-1 Ikorodu City

In Aba, it was a day to forget for nine-time champions Enyimba International, who fell 1-0 at home to Ikorodu City.

Joseph Arumala’s 29th-minute strike proved decisive as the visitors held firm to secure a famous victory against the People’s Elephant on their home turf.

Rangers 2-0 Wikki Tourists

Rangers International secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Wikki Tourists, courtesy of goals from Wisdom Ebirim in the 18th minute and Godwin Obaje in the 33rd minute.

Remo Stars 1-1 Abia Warriors

Remo Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Abia Warriors. 

Chukwuemeka Obioma gave the visitors the lead in the 54th minute before Samson Olasupo rescued a point for the hosts with a late strike in the 78th minute.

Bayelsa United 0-0 Bendel Insurance

Bayelsa United and Bendel Insurance settled for a goalless draw in a tightly contested encounter, with both sides failing to convert their chances.

Kwara United 1-1 Kano Pillars

Kwara United shared the spoils with Kano Pillars in a 1-1 draw. Johnmark Aule opened the scoring for the hosts in the 10th minute, while Luis Dadong equalised for Pillars in the 79th minute.

Katsina United edged Nasarawa United 1-0, thanks to Boubacar Massaly’s late winner in the 81st minute, sealing all three points for the home side.
