NPFL Round-Up: Heartland Returns To Winning Ways, As 10-Man El-Kanemi Warriors Shock Rivers United

Heartland FC returned to winning ways after an important 1-0 win over Remo Stars in the match day nine 2024/2025 NPFL encounter, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

Captain of the Naze Millionaires, Peters Afolayan's 71st minute strike gave the hosts the victory against the league frontrunners.

In Port Harcourt, El-Kanemi Warriors shocked Rivers United to extend their unbeaten run despite playing a majority of the game with a man disadvantaged. 

The Maiduguri-based side held the Pride of Rivers to a 1-1 draw in a keenly contested tie. Samaila Bello had opened the scoring in the 31st minute for the visitors before Taofeek Otaniyi pulled out an instant equalizer two minutes later. 

Elsewhere, Anas Yusuf's ninth goal of the campaign ensured that Nasarawa United secured the maximum points against Kano Pillars. 

Enyimba FC left it late to beat Ikorodu City FC by 2-1 at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba while Plateau United dismantled Sunshine Stars by 3-0. 

Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan secured back-to-back home wins after beating Akwa United 2-1 at the Lekan Salami Stadium.
