NPFL Round-up: Rangers Int'l Holds Enyimba As Doma United Overpower Heartland
By Precious Oham
It was a pulsating Oriental Derby clash in Aba as Rangers Int'l came from a goal down to hold Enyimba Int'l to a 1-1 draw in Match Day 15 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.Â
The Aba landlords had their noses in front in the 12th minute following a fantastic attacking football for Chijioke Mbaoma to nod past the Rangers goalkeeper.Â
Kazeem Ogunleye's equaliser in the 87th minutes ensured that the Flying Antelopes picked a point off their rivals after he got the ball from Daniel Daga to unleash a shot from long range past Ojo Olorunleke.Â
A last minute save from Olorunleke denied Rangers the winner after Auwalu Naziru got the ball and raced past the Enyimba defense but failed to beat the Enyimba goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.Â
The draw ensured that Rangers finally picked a point in Aba after seven years as the last time they picked a point away at Enyimba was July 31, 2016.
In Gombe, Doma United continued their fine form at home with a narrow one-nil victory over Heartland FC of Owerri.Â
Nelson Abiam's header in the 42nd minute was good enough for the Savannah Tigers to coast home the maximum points and became the only side in the league that are yet to concede at home this season.Â
Other matches billed for Thursday will see the table-toppers clash in Ikenne between Remo Stars and Lobi Stars while Bendel Insurance hosts Abia Warriors.Â
Sporting Lagos and Bayelsa United will slug it out in Lagos while Gombe United face Katsina United. Akwa United will take on Sunshine Stars, Niger Tornadoes hosts Kano Pillars while Kwara United confronts Plateau United.
