NPFL Round-up: Remo Stars Back on Top, As Plateau United Pick Away Win In Kaduna

Remo Stars returned to the summit of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, after a two-nil victory over Kwara United on MatchDay 13, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

Adedayo Olamilekan fired Remo in front in the 25th minute before Samad Kadiri scored from close range against his former club to extend Remo's lead as they ran out victorious to reclaim the top position on the log with 26 points. 

Bashir Usman's brace was not enough as Niger Tornadoes suffered a home defeat in a five-goal thriller to Plateau United. 

The Ikon Allah Boys were stunned by the visitors when they conceded as early as the 3rd minute into the game courtesy of Harrison Ebah who latched on to a blistering counter attack to slot home.

Few minutes into the restart, Usman lifted highest and beautifully connected Idris Saidu's free kick into the net to level the score.

The Ikon Allah Boys went ahead for the first time in the game when the referee awarded a penalty after a foul in the box on Yahuza Bala. Usman took the kick and grabbed his brace making it his 5th goal of the season.

Second half substitute Hilary Albert restored parity in the 76th minute when he beat the offside trap and flipped the ball pass Aliko Mustapha in goal for the Ikon Allah Boys.

The visitors took the lead courtesy of Nenrot Silas who capitalized on a defensive mixup to slot home inside the box and the winner for Plateau United. 

At the Eket City Stadium, struggling Akwa United got the better of Lobi Stars by 1-0 via a low-driven shot by Seyi Oguntayo towards the final stages of the first half. 

Fatai Osho's men earned the impressive victory over their visitors to climb to the 16th position on the log.

Kennedy Boboye's Heartland FC lost on the road to Gombe United with the goals coming off the boots of Abba Umar and Chijioke Alaekwe.

In the Abia Derby in Aba, Enyimba Int'l defeated their neighbours, Abia Warriors by 2-1. Eze Ekwutoziam fired in a shot from long range to open the scoring for the People's Elephant before Chidiebere Nnachi doubled their lead before the hour mark.

A consolation goal late into the game for Abia Warriors through Augustine Njoku wasn't sufficient to get them anything in Aba as Enyimba climbed to the 4th position on the log. 

In the other matches, Bendel Insurance recorded a narrow win over Sunshine Stars while Bayelsa United defeated Rangers Int'l by two goals to nothing. On Saturday, Doma United defeated Kano Pillars by a lone goal.
