NPFL Slams ₦1 Million Fine On Clubs Over Ball Boys’ Time-Wasting
Sampson Adedeji
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced that any club whose ball boys engage in time-wasting tactics during matches will face a fine of ₦1 million, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
According to a circular issued by NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, the league body has directed all clubs to properly reorient their ball boys to uphold fair play and the spirit of the game.
Part of the statement reads:“Any team found wanting or encouraging such conduct will be sanctioned with a fine of One Million Naira, as such behaviour is contrary to fair play and brings the game into disrepute.”
Owumi further emphasized that the act constitutes misconduct under the NPFL framework and rules, warning that the league will not tolerate practices that undermine its integrity.
He reaffirmed the NPFL’s commitment to ensuring discipline, professionalism, and fairness across all fixtures.
