NPFL Suspends Plateau United Team Manager, Two Players Over Misconduct

The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, has suspended the Team Manager of Plateau United, Iliya Abel and two players of the team for allegedly inciting and unsporting conduct, BSNSports.com.ng reports.Â
The duo of Jimmy Ambrose and Charles Henlong were suspended for three matches over misconduct and the club was also fined N1 million.Â
According to the league body, the Jos based side were culpable for breaching the NPFL Framework and Rules during the Matchday 15 fixture with Kwara United. Â
The statement reads: "Plateau United have been charged for breaching NPFL Framework and Rules in the course of their Matchday 15 fixture at Kwara United on Thursday, December 21.
"Players and officials of Plateau United harassed the match officials after the game in Jos, an act of misconduct capable of bringing the game to disrepute.
"Plateau United failed to ensure proper conduct of their players and officials, resulting in the harassment and intimidation of the referee after the match.
"A fine of N1 million has been imposed on Plateau United for misconduct and failure to ensure proper conduct of their players and officials.
"Plateau United's Jimmy Ambrose & Charles Henlong have been suspended for the next 3 matchweeks & the club's team manager Iliya Abel is also suspended for the 3 next matches for his inciting and unsporting conduct.
"Plateau United have been warned of facing stiffer sanctions if there is a similar recurrence of such conduct.
"Plateau United have 48 hours from the date of notice to appeal these sanctions."
