Nigeria Premier League side Akwa United has parted ways with coach Deji Ayeni, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Ayeni joined the 'Promise Keeper' a few seasons ago from another Premier League side Sunshine Stars of Akure.

Akwa United, despite suffering a defeat in the opening game of the season, the Uyo-based club almost made it to the Super 6 before losing out to Enyimba via goals difference.

Former Ekiti United gaffer is touted to be on his way to Jos to team up with Plateau United ahead of the new season.
