It was yet another Matchday weekend in the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, as Bendel Insurance, Doma United and Kano Pillars all secured their first three maximum points of the campaign, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

However, there were only three Match-day 2 games played on Saturday across three venues, as the campaign moves into the second Matchday week.

In Benin, Bendel Insurance continued on their impressive unbeaten home form, as they secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Shooting Stars, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, in Benin City.

The Monday Odigie led side came into the game after they were knocked out from the CAF Confederation Cup by Moroccan side RS Berkane last weekend.

The Benin Arsenal took the lead through Gali Falke, who scored into his own net to give them a 1-0 lead. Before Evans Ogbonda with a brilliance strike in the 79 minutes to secured all maximum three points for Insurance.

In Gombe, Doma United returned to winning ways with a 2-0 home win over Bayslea United, at the Pantami Stadium.

The Akin Onigbinde led side bounced back from their Matchday 1 defeat away at Rangers International last Sunday, to pick their first win of the season.

With goals from Andrew Majalisa and Charles Terwar in the 21st and 57th minutes to earn Doma United the much needed victory.

In Kano, Kano Pillars also secured their first victory of the season, with a narrow 1-0 win over Katsina United, at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

The Sai Masu Gida suffered a defeat on Matchday 1 against Sunshine Stars in Akure. But a strike by Ibrahim Mustapha in the 27 minutes was enough to help secured the vital three points with the remaining seven Matchday 2 games to be played on Sunday across seven venues in the country.
