NPFL24 : Offor Excited Over Sporting Lagos Performance In Victory Against Gombe United

Sporting Lagos Head coach, Paul Offor has revealed that the team feels excited to be playing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

Sporting Lagos began their first season in the Nigerian Top Flight, with a 2-0 home victory over Gombe United, on Monday, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Stadium. 

Through goals from Rivio Ayemwenre and Nantuan Clement to secured the first league win of the season for the Lagos based club. 

While speaking with the journalists, shortly after the encounter, Coach Paul, expressed that the team showed clear dominance, and that the performance will improve their confidence going forward into the season. 

" Yes, we totally dominated the game, " Paul said. 

" But, We want to improve on our confidence going into this season, so I'm very happy with the three points and the team performance."

The gaffer, who took the Lagos based club from NNL to the Nigerian Top Flight League explained that the chances created and not converted in the game, does not worry him a lot. 

"No, it doesn't worry me a lot, because I would be more worried if we are not creating the chances, " he explained. 

"But, as long as we are creating the chances and we are getting into the box, I believe the finishing will come. It is just something we need to keep on improving in training." 

The Coach also revealed that it is a great and massive feeling for the club to be playing in the NPFL. 

" Yes, it is massive, it is great because this is where everybody want to play. You play the best football in the country, against the best teams and everybody is watching you, because this is where we want to be and we are very excited about it." 

Coach Paul finally expressed that the target set by the club this season is to win the next game, and to take it game by game and keep on improving as a team.

" No, We don't have a particular target set for this season, it is just to win the next game. Taking it game by game and for us to keep on improving as a team," the Coach concludes. 

Sporting Lagos will be on the road this weekend, when they travel to Uyo on Sunday to take on Akwa United, in a Matchday 2 encounter, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
