NPFL24: Bolus Wowed by Katsina United Players Performance After Loss To Kano Pillars

By Emmanuel Chinedu

Katsina United head coach, Tony Bolus has revealed that he is encouraged by the performance of his team in their 1-0 loss to Kano Pillars, in a Matchday 2 encounter, of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Ibrahim Mustapha scored the only goal of the game to secured maximum three points for Kano Pillars, at the Sani Abacha Stadium, as Katsina United suffered their first defeat of the season.

While speaking in an exclusive interview on Monday Morning with BSNSports.com.ng, Coach Bolus expressed that it was a good game, that its still a learning process for the players.

" Yes, it wasn't a bad game for us, " Bolus said.

" But, the boys were able to show us that they are learning and also doing it fast."

The former Yobe Stars gaffer also revealed that they created more chances and had opportunities to win the game.

" The game was not that bad, because we had more of the ball possessions and also created more chances in the game than Kano Pillars, " he explained.

" The goal they scored was a gift from our goalkeeper, which is a learning process for him too, If you understand."

Bolus reacting to the mentality of the players, says that they are trying to make the players to have strong mindset of winning away games too and not just to be strong at home alone.

" The mentality we are trying to put into the players is not only to be strong at home alone, because you could be strong to win anywhere home or away," he told BSNSports.com.ng

"We had opportunities to win the game because the officiating to a large extends was okay. I believe If we take our chances in away games, then we can as well be strong at home."

" So, that mentality of you must win at home alone is not what I want my players to understand. because you can go out and win as well away from home too."

Finally, the Katsina United gaffer expressed that they have identified the problems that affected them against Kano Pillars and will work on it ahead of their next matches this mid-week and weekend.

" Yes, we've been able to identify one or two problems we had, and will work on that quickly ahead of our next home game against Lobi Stars on Wednesday."

" So, We've been able to make a lot of corrections and not just for home matches alone. We are doing that but also our away matches too."

" So, that's the mentality we are working on so that even when we are playing away from home, that we can still play to win, that is the mentality I want from my players, " Bolus concludes.
