The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has paid a condolence visit to world-renowned boxing champion Anthony Joshua following a fatal road accident that occurred on Monday, December 29, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The visit, made on behalf of the Chairman of the Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and the entire NSC workforce, was aimed at expressing solidarity with the boxer and sympathizing with the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident.

Hon. Olopade described the accident as deeply unfortunate and expressed gratitude that Joshua survived the crash. However, he noted with sadness that two members of the boxer’s team — strength and conditioning coach Sina Ghami and personal trainer Kevin Latif Ayodele — lost their lives.

“On behalf of the National Sports Commission and the entire Nigerian sports family, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased,” Olopade said.

He also offered prayers and well wishes to Anthony Joshua, expressing hope for his full recovery. “We thank God for sparing his life. Our thoughts and prayers are with him during this difficult time, and we wish him a speedy return to good health.”

The NSC Director General further used the occasion to emphasize the importance of road safety, calling on motorists to exercise caution and responsibility at all times.

“Road safety is a shared responsibility. We urge all road users to remain patient, vigilant, and law-abiding to prevent avoidable tragedies,” he added.
