The Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF) has commenced its national trials for table tennis and swimming, scheduled to hold at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The two-day event is part of the Federation’s broader initiative to discover young talents and prepare them for upcoming international competitions, starting with the maiden African School Games slated for July in Algeria.

The trials will serve as a key selection process for Nigeria’s contingent to the continental event, which is backed by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).

The inaugural African School Games will run from July 26 to August 5, 2025, across the Algerian cities of Constantine, Sétif, Skikda, and Annaba. Over 3,000 young athletes aged 14 to 17 are expected to compete in 25 different sports disciplines.
