NTA Sports24 Honours Staff, Stakeholders At Award Nite

It was celebration galore as the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Sports24 held its maiden end of the year/ Award event to celebrate outstanding dedication and commitment as well as recognizing staff and sports leaders who have excelled in their fields at the year 2025.
Speaking at the ceremony, Barrister Ibrahim Aliyu, Executive Director, Special Duties, who represented NTA Director-General, Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos commended management and staff of Sports24 for organising the first edition of the event after 25 years of establishing the station.
He described the occasion as “extremely important” and charged the organisers to make it an annual tradition. Aliyu emphasized that recognizing excellence motivates others to perform at their best and reinforces professionalism across the organization.
Highlighting the unifying power of sports in Nigeria, Aliyu said it “not only brings people together but also promotes learning, development, and exposure.” He praised NTA Sports 24, the country’s only 24-hour sports channel, for providing a platform to showcase talent nationwide. He also revealed that management plans to strengthen the sports department to ensure its programs are fully structured and impactful.
The Station's General Manager, Kayode Adeniyi, expressed appreciation to the Director General for his support to the station. He said both the management and staff of the NTA Sports24 are ready to take the station to new heights.
The NTA Director-General, Salihu Dembos, received an Award of Excellence, alongside other notable recipients including HRM Eze Sir Ifeanyi Eke, Udumeze 111 of Lokpana in Abia State; Saidu Jubril, President of the Handball Federation; Simon Nkom, Hockey Federation President; Ademola Are, Rugby President; Alhaji Abdulmajeed Solademi, Chairman of Air Warriors Basketball Club; and Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller-General of Customs.
The station also recognized the best staff in various departments, Corps member serving in the station and students on internships.
The awards underscore NTA’ Sports24's commitment to excellence and highlight the vital role of sports and dedicated staff in driving national unity and progress.
Among the dignitaries present at the event include NTA Executive Director Engineering, Engineer Sadeeq Musa Omenza, NTA General Managers of Multi-channel; NTA Director of Administration; Deputy Director, News; Lami Ahmed, President, Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria; Former Super Eagles Players; Coaches as well as other important dignitaries.
The event was rounded off with cutting of anniversary cake.
