President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod revealed that the annual beach volleyball tour initiated under his regime is yielding positive results.

Reaping the gains thereof, the president therefore promised bigger and better beach volleyball tour this year.

Engineer Nimrod stated this after Nigeria’s triumph at the 2024 African U19 Girls Beach Volleyball Nations Championship in Morocco on Thursday.

Nimrod who doubled as the Chairman Control Committee of the 2024 African U19 Boys Beach Volleyball Nations Championship said the beach volleyball tour gave the beach players the opportunity to have more playing time and prepare Nigeria for International Championships.

He encouraged state/private clubs in the country to support the growth of beach volleyball by organising mini tournaments and presenting them for the Beach Tour as well as President Cup.

The member of CAVB Beach Commission said, “I am excited that Nigeria is reaping the dividend of the beach volleyball tour in Nigeria. Nigeria has a pool where we can pick players from in the two decade and that is why the Nigeria Beach Volleyball Commission has decided to invest in the beach tour.

“Esther Mbah is a National Youth Games, President Beach Volleyball Cup and Nigeria Beach Tour Champion who grew from the ranks to become the U19 Beach Volleyball Champion and African Games bronze medallist. Pamela Bawa (15 years) is also a gold medallist of the annual National Youth Games.

“Victor Eze (U19 Boys Bronze medallist) has been constantly participating in the President and Beach Tour with Kada Stars. We have a lot of young players from different clubs in the country who have actively featured in the beach volleyball tournaments.

“I want to assure you that this year’s edition of the Beach Volleyball Tour will be bigger and better because our ambassadors who represented Nigeria at the Olympic Qualifiers, U19 Boys and Girls African Nations Championships have shown our performances are not a fluke”.

“This is the time for volleyball associations that have natural beaches in their states to organise mini beach volleyball competition which will attract more children as well as corporate bodies to partner with them. Government cannot do it alone that is the reason we encourage selfless individuals to support their volleyball associations”.
