NVBF Set for Elective Congress As Nimrod Reflects On Volleyball Growth

By Niyi Busari

As the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) prepares for its elective congress on Monday, Federation President, Engineer Musa Nimrod, has commended the steady growth of volleyball in the country and called for a unified approach to leadership, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In an interview on Sunday, Nimrod expressed satisfaction with the sport’s development both domestically and internationally. He emphasized the importance of continuity and collaboration, regardless of the outcome of the elections.

“Elections are about give and take. Whether one wins or loses, the most important thing is that we all come together to work as a team,” he said.

Nimrod stressed that effective leadership extends beyond holding titles, noting that meaningful participation is what truly drives progress.

“Winning or losing is not the real issue, what matters is our collective commitment to moving volleyball forward,” he stated. “Leadership should be about contribution, not just position. Sometimes, we see people elected into office who contribute very little.”

He highlighted the Federation’s proactive approach to inclusion, pointing to constitutional provisions that allow for the appointment of individuals into committees to ensure broader participation.

“Participation is key. It’s not just about being elected; it’s about being effective,” he said.

Reflecting on the sport’s trajectory in Nigeria, Nimrod acknowledged existing challenges but remained optimistic about the future.

“Like any organization, we face some internal issues, especially around competitions. But what’s encouraging is that more passionate and dedicated individuals are getting involved in the governance of the sport. That’s a very positive sign,” he concluded.

The NVBF elective congress is expected to usher in a new chapter for the Federation as it seeks to strengthen the sport at both grassroots and elite levels across Nigeria.
