NWFL: "I Have Achieved My Long Time Dream" - Onome Ebi
By Niyi Busari
Super Falcons and Naija Ratels defender, Onome Ebi said she has achieved her long time dreams by playing in the 2023/24 Nigeria Women's Football League.
Ebi who captained Abuja based Women's team in their 1-3 loss to Nasarawa Amazons in their season opener added that the achievement which she thought will never come to fruition means a lot to her.
Speaking with www.bsnsports.com.ng after the match she said, "First I was scared but I said No, I need this experience again.
"I am really excited playing against young girls. Before the game they can around me and said 'senior, senior, senior. It was a good game and after the game we took pictures with players looking forward to brighter future
"And I said, I have finally fulfilled my long time dreams that I thought I will never ever achieved but it happened today
Commenting on the difference between the women's league when she played in 2008/09 season to this season's, she said,
"I saw a very little different from what it used to be in the women's league before I left. I saw a bit better different from the officiating from what it used to be. The pitch is very okay and the players made short passes and play with themselves unlike the 'kick and follow' style back then. I would say the league is better now.
"My staying with Naija Ratels is to motivate the girls and for myself is to keep fit because I am still the Super Falcons and need to be fit."
