Sunshine Queens have parted ways with their head coach Kayode Olujohungbe, bringing an end to his stint with the club, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The management of the Akure-based side confirmed the decision in an official statement released on Friday, citing the need for a change in direction following a review of the team’s recent performances.

According to the club, the move was deemed necessary to reposition the team and improve results in the Nigeria Women Football League.

Despite the dismissal, Sunshine Queens expressed appreciation to Olujohungbe for his dedication and contributions during his time in charge, while wishing him success in his future endeavours.

During his tenure, Olujohungbe recorded two wins, six draws, and five defeats in 13 matches.

Sunshine Queens currently sit ninth in Group B of the NWFL table with 12 points, a position the club believes does not reflect its ambitions for the season.
