NWFL 24: Oriental Derby Win Excites Ogbala, Targets Super Six

Heartland Queens' Technical Adviser, Obi Ogbala said he is delighted with the performance of his team in the hard-fought victory against Abia Angels in the oriental derby, BSNSports.com.ng reports.  

The Owerri landladies defeated their counterparts 2-1 in match day 3 of the Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba. 

An elated gaffer of the Owerri side said the clash lived up to its pre-match billing as a local derby insisting that the better side deservedly won the encounter. 

According to him; "I feel quite elated with the outcome of the derby because knowing what we wanted which is qualification for the Super Six. I know already that if we did not pick points on the road it will be difficult to achieve the mark. You know we already lost one at Nasarawa Amazons, so I am super excited and happy.

"You know both sides focused on the three points at stake. We scored first and they quickly rallied round to earn an equaliser then we scored the match winner. They missed a penalty that was saved by our goalkeeper, Uchenna Chukwu. She's quite good at saving spot kicks and she proved me right.

"Again, no two games are the same, the game at Nasarawa Amazons was not a derby, today's own is a derby with its pressures and tensions.

"We have noted few lapses which we are going to work on going forward to other matches on the calendar. I'm sure we made a good statement with today's game and I can say confidently that the better side won the game."

The victory takes Heartland Queens' points haul to six from possible nine. The Owerri side will be playing hosts to the Confluence City side, Confluence Queens in match day 4 clash on Wednesday, December 06 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
