Bayelsa Queens Technical Adviser, Whyte Ogbonda has praised his players for not losing focus at the crucial moment in Wednesday’s 19th February, 2025, 2-1 home win over visiting Naija Ratels in a NWFL Matchday 6 fixture in Yenagoa, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Prosperity Girls defeated Naija Ratels through Dooshima Tarnum and Delight Isaac goals in the 73rd and 77th minutes after coming from behind as Adama Nwachukwu netted for Naija Ratels in the 71st minute with a header, after Florence Alexandra had missed a penalty for Bayelsa Queens in the first half.

Whyte, while speaking to journalists shortly after the encounter, said his girls showed the zeal and determination to seal the three points and that despite conceding a goal in the 71st minute, the girls were never troubled.

“We were eager to get the three points and we were aware Naija Ratels are a good side and won’t allow us to have our way easily,” Whyte told journalists in Yenagoa.

"We planned for them and we were just focused on the three points and we are thrilled we got it. It was a very good and exciting game from both sides.”

Whyte said everything in line is possible but they know that nothing happens without hard work, and that they will continue to work harder and continue to see how they can grow as a team.

“We have a lot of young players in the team. Some of them just got their topflight breakthrough.”

“We didn’t lose focus at the time we were down by a lone goal and I am happy by the quick response of my girls. We continued to do the same thing we have been doing and taking the game to them.”

Next for Bayelsa Queens is an away fixture against FC Robo Queens of Lagos, who lost 1-4 to Delta Queens in Asaba, on Wednesday 26th February, 2025, to end the first stanza of the NWFL.
