The 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season delivered a captivating blend of quality, resilience, and individual excellence, with several players producing standout performances throughout the campaign, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Following months of fierce competition, the NWFL Premiership Best XI of the Season has been unveiled, recognising the players who made the greatest impact for their respective clubs.

Defending champions Edo Queens and Nasarawa Amazons led the selections with three representatives each, while Abia Angels earned significant recognition after a historic season that culminated in their first-ever Super Six qualification.

Goalkeeper

Fatima Oloko (Abia Angels)

Fatima Oloko emerged as one of the league’s most influential goalkeepers, playing a pivotal role in Abia Angels’ remarkable campaign.

The shot-stopper consistently delivered commanding performances, combining composure, leadership, and crucial saves to help the Umuahia-based club secure a maiden Super Six appearance ahead of established sides such as Rivers Angels and FC Robo Queens.

Her impressive displays throughout the season earned her the NWFL Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season award.

Defenders

Valentina Uroko (Edo Queens)

A cornerstone of Edo Queens’ title-winning defence, Valentina Uroko showcased exceptional consistency, composure, and positional awareness throughout the season.

Her defensive leadership proved instrumental as Edo Queens successfully retained the NWFL Premiership crown.

Oladeji Oluwabunmi (Bayelsa Queens)

Oladeji Oluwabunmi was a standout figure in Bayelsa Queens’ backline, providing strength, discipline, and defensive stability.

The former Naija Ratels defender repeatedly demonstrated her quality against some of the league’s most dangerous attacking players, establishing herself as one of the competition’s most dependable defenders.

Forwards

Bolaji Olamide Uwah (Rivers Angels)

Uwah enjoyed an outstanding season for Rivers Angels, emerging as one of the league’s most consistent attacking threats.

Her ability to deliver crucial goals and decisive performances played a key role in her side’s campaign, while her impressive scoring tally saw her finish as joint winner of the NWFL Premiership Golden Boot.

Atume Doosuur (Edo Queens)

Atume Doosuur was among the most prolific forwards in the league, combining pace, intelligent movement, and clinical finishing to devastating effect.

The Edo Queens striker scored 13 goals during the season, sharing the Golden Boot award with Uwah while helping her club secure another league title.

Ayatsea Hembafan (Nasarawa Amazons)

Ayatsea Hembafan was a driving force behind Nasarawa Amazons’ impressive season, consistently troubling opposition defences with her creativity, movement, and eye for goal.

Her attacking contributions proved vital to the Solid Babes’ success throughout the campaign and earned her a deserved place in the season’s Best XI.

Coach of the Season

Moses Aduku (Edo Queens)

Moses Aduku was named NWFL Premiership Coach of the Season after guiding Edo Queens to another league triumph.

His tactical expertise, leadership, and ability to maximise the strengths of his squad were central to the club’s dominant campaign. The title marked Aduku’s second NWFL Premiership crown, having previously led Bayelsa Queens to championship success in 2022.
