NWFL Greenlights Ekiti Queens’  Home Return, Ends Ibom Angels’ Closed-Door Matches

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has confirmed that Ekiti Queens will return to their home ground in Ado-Ekiti after completing a disciplinary sanction imposed earlier in the season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The sanction required the club to play its home fixtures in Abeokuta due to violations of league regulations concerning matchday organisation and security protocols at their designated venue.

Following a review process, the NWFL stated that Ekiti Queens have now met all operational and safety requirements. The club has therefore been cleared to host matches in Ado-Ekiti again, starting from Matchday 12 of the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership season.

Ekiti Queens are expected to formally mark their return to home soil on Matchday 15, when they host regional rivals Pacesetter Queens in front of their supporters.

In a separate development, the league has also lifted the ban on spectators at Ibom Angels’ home matches in Uyo. The restriction had been imposed after incidents related to crowd control and breaches of matchday conduct regulations, which forced the club to play several fixtures behind closed doors.

After assessing improvements in matchday organisation, including enhanced security measures and compliance with league guidelines, the NWFL confirmed that Ibom Angels have satisfied all required conditions.

Fans will be allowed back into the stadium beginning with the club’s Matchday 12 fixture against Adamawa Queens on Wednesday.

The NWFL reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism, safety, and integrity across all venues, while commending both Ekiti Queens and Ibom Angels for their cooperation and adherence to league directives during the sanction period.
