Matchday action in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) delivered tight contests across centres on Wednesday, with crucial wins and late drama shaping the league standings, BSNSports.com.ng reports
At the Osogbo Township Stadium, Osun Babes edged Ahudiyannem Queens 1-0, thanks to Nofisat Tijani’s 87th-minute penalty, securing all three points for the home side after a tense encounter.
In Lagos, Dannaz Ladies were held to a goalless draw by Nasarawa Amazon, as both sides failed to convert their chances in a cagey affair.
Remo Stars Ladies continued their fine run with a solid 1-0 victory over Abia Angels, courtesy of Aishat Animashaun’s 25th-minute strike.
In Benin City, Edo Queens claimed a narrow 1-0 win against Heartland Queens, with Atume Doosuur scoring in the 15th minute to hand the reigning champions another important result.
There was no separating Delta Queens and Sunshine Queens, who played out a 0-0 draw, despite both teams pushing for a late winner.
The most dramatic moment of the day came in Ado-Ekiti, where Ekiti Queens held Adamawa Queens to a 1-1 draw. Adamawa took the lead in the 55th minute through Mary Sunday, but the hosts rescued a point deep into stoppage time after Favour Godwin scored an own goal in the 90+2 minute.
The NWFL continues to deliver tight, competitive football as teams battle for early-season momentum.
