NWFL Roundup: Heartland Queens Maintains Lead As Robo Queens Stun Rivers Angels

The 2023 Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, Premiership returned with a bang and even more surprises for match day 8 matches, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

Defending champions, Delta Queens FC lost on the road to debutants Sunshine Queens while Rivers Angels were held by FC Robo Queens in Port Harcourt. 

In Owerri, Heartland Queens maintained their lead in Group A with 14 points after beating Adamawa Queens 3-0 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri. 

The biggest winners for match day 8 are Nasarawa Amazons, who pummeled Royal Queens 4-0 in Lafia while Confluence Queens enjoyed a narrow one-nil win over Naija Ratels. 

The South-South derby between Edo Queens and Bayelsa Queens ended in a stalemate while Ekiti Queens came from a goal down to beat Remo Stars Ladies 2-1 in Ado-Ekiti. 

The other result include; Abia Angels 3-1 Dannaz Ladies while a total of 20 goals were scored on match day 8. 

Three teams are tied on 14 points in the standings in Group A including Heartland Queens, Nasarawa Amazons and Confluence Queens as the Owerri side have a superior goals difference. 

Despite dropping points at home, Rivers Angels still lead in Group B with 15 points and closely followed by Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens on 13 points respectively.
