NWFL Super 6:Governor Oborevwori Splashes N10M on Victorious Delta Queens

The newly crowned champions of the Nigeria Women Football League, Delta Queens are now swimming in millions, within minutes of winning the league, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

Having gone down 1-0 in the first half, the victory could only have been achieved the hard way as two late goals left Bayelsa Queens stunned while the crowd went into a state of frenzy as it dawned on the homers that the women league was returning to Delta State after 11 years.

Led by the First Lady of Delta State, Chief Mrs Tobore Oborevwori who was the first recipient of the league trophy, the team headed to the residence of the Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori straight from the stadium for trophy presentation.

The Governor, who also had the pleasure of having the immediate past Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa around, was so happy, receiving his first piece of silverware after just two weeks in office.

The number one man in the state didn't waste time announcing another cash reward of N10 Million for the team. That makes it a total of N20 Million for the ladies within minutes as they had earlier claimed the N10 Millon at stake for emerging as winners of the league.

Delta Queens are to also represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League via a WAFU qualifying window in August.
