Naira Rain On Rivers Hoopers As Governor Fubara Splash 50M On Champions

The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Siminalaye Fubara, has pronounced a Fifty Million Naira reward for members of Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club following their emergence as champions of the 2023 Nigeria Premier Basketball League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.Â
Governor Fubara said this at a grand reception for the team held at the State Executive chamber in Port Harcourt on Friday.
Speaking at the state reception, the Governor hailed Rivers Hoopers as worthy representatives of Rivers State, and commended them for their hard work and doggedness displayed in becoming Nigerian champions.
Governor Fubara also thanked members of the team for being good ambassadors of the Rivers People, as their triumph has brought excitement, and a sense of purpose to the teeming population of Rivers Youths.
As a show of support and encouragement, the Executive Governor of Rivers State pronounced a Fifty Million Naira (N50,000,000.00) reward to the victorious Rivers Hoopers team.
He further urged Rivers Hoopers to make Rivers State proud at the 2024 Basketball Africa League, in order to reinforce Nigeria's status as the African Giant, and also pledged the State's continuous support to the team.
Speaking after the State reception, Rivers Hoopers General manager, Ifie Ozaka, expressed gratitude at the steady show of support from Governor Sim Fubara and stated that such level of motivation will push the team towards achieving their target of a podium finish at the 2024 BAL.
On his part, Rivers Hoopers head coach, Ogoh Odaudu hailed Governor Fubara as a sports loving governor and also stated that Rivers Hoopers will give all it takes to ensure a successful outing at the BAL.
The 2024 edition of the Basketball Africa League dunks off in March, with Rivers Hoopers drawn alongside Armee Patriotique Rwandaise Basketball (APR) of Rwanda, US Monastir (Tunisia) and last season's finalists, AS Douanes of Senegal in the Sahara Conference.
