The Azzurri and Super Eagle forward - Victor James Osimhen are getting closer to shocking the summer transfer window following a series of indoor meetings between the reigning Italian Serie A club, Osimhen, and his agent - Roberto Calenda, BSNsports.com.ng understands.

Victor Osimhen has hugged the headlines since the grand opening of the 2023 summer transfer window, following a tremendous 2022-23 campaign both individually and for his club.

However, recent reports suggest that the 24-year-old Lagos-born striker is closer to renewing his contract with Napoli than making a move, with Napoli ready to formalize the agreement for the extension of his contract poised to expire in 2025.

Napoli, Osimhen, and Calenda convened for a meeting last week in the commune of Dimaro, Italy, to discuss an agreement on the release clause embedded in his contract, which is around €150 to €200 million, the decision to formalize a contract renewal.

Although, his release clause remains a bane of contention because while the club wants the figure to be around €200 million (£171 million, $219 million), his agent - Calenda, wants a lower fee which settles around €150 million (£128m/$164m).

His current wages and possible increment were also amongst other matters arising from the meeting.

Recall that Calenda once dismissed reports of potential challenges between the player and the club over a contract renewal, labeling them as fake news as Napoli President - De Laurentis also boasted of the player's intention to stay back.

“We will see Victor Osimhen wearing our shirt next season, that is for sure," De Laurentiis said.

“Then, if a more than indecent proposal arrives, we will move on and find another top talent as we did with Kvaratskhelia and the player in question,” he added.
