Napoli To Add No AFCON Show Clause On Contracts For Osimhen, Others -De Laurentiis

Victor Osimhen's participation in the future African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Nigeria's Super Eagles will now hang on the thread, BSNsports.com.ng reports.

President of his Italian Serie A side Napoli Aurelio De Laurentiis informed that the club will not sign African players again unless they signed an agreement to back out of the continent's biggest biannual football fiesta.

The news will not be palatable to Nigerian forward and his Cameroonian teammate Zambo Anguissa who are still with the team and could be a stumbling block for them renewing their contracts with the club once it expires.

“I told them, lads, don’t talk to me about Africans anymore!

“I love them, but either they sign something confirming they’ll back out of playing the Africa Cup of Nations, or otherwise between that tournament, the World Cup qualifiers in South America, these players are never available!

“We are the idiots who pay salaries only to send them all over the world playing for others," he told Football Italia.
