National Youth Games: NWF Begins Implementation of New Bodyweights Categories

The Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF) has announced plans to begin implementation of the new bodyweight categories at the 9th National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba, Delta State, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Youth Games which will commence from 29th August through 6th September will feature over 30 sporting events including Weightlifting.

The Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF) on Monday informed all coaches, stakeholders and officials that it would implement the new bodyweights as approved by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

The Federation in a press release signed by the Media Officer, Amaechi Agbo, directed all coaches and State Associations to ensure that their athelets enlisted for the NYG complies to the new bodyweight categories.

A total of six bodyweight categories comprising three each for men and women will feature in the weightlifting event at the NYG Asaba 2025.

The new bodyweight categories for men are: 56kg, 60kg and 65kg. The new bodyweight categories for women are: 44kg, 48kg and 53kg.
