Ndidi Injury Blow Raises Concerns for Besiktas, Super Eagles
By Niyi Busari
Wilfred Ndidi has been ruled out of action after sustaining a hamstring injury, dealing a significant setback to Beşiktaş J.K. at a critical stage of the season, BSNAports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian midfielder picked up the injury during Beşiktaş’s heated derby clash against Fenerbahçe S.K.. Ndidi was forced off in the 85th minute after experiencing discomfort, with initial indications suggesting a muscular issue.
Subsequent medical assessments confirmed the extent of the injury. An MRI scan revealed a hamstring strain accompanied by bleeding in the biceps femoris muscle, raising concerns over his short-term availability.
Ndidi has been a key figure for Beşiktaş, with his physical presence and defensive discipline playing a central role in the team’s midfield stability. His absence is expected to be felt as the club navigates a demanding period in the fixture calendar.
The 27-year-old is projected to be sidelined for between two and three weeks, ruling him out of upcoming matches against Antalyaspor and Samsunspor. His unavailability leaves a gap in midfield, likely forcing tactical adjustments by the coaching staff.
Hamstring injuries can be delicate and require careful rehabilitation to prevent recurrence. Beşiktaş’s medical team is currently managing his recovery, with a focus on ensuring a safe return to full fitness.
Beyond club commitments, the injury will also be monitored closely by Nigeria’s national team selectors, with hopes that Ndidi will recover in time to resume his influential role for the Super Eagles without complications.
