The coast is getting clearer that midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will not be available when the Super Eagles open their campaign in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Leicester City star has been out of action in the last 2 weeks owning to a muscular injury and the club manager Enzo Maresca on Thursday afternoon confirmed that he will not be back until the International break

"Wilf will be out until the international break. It is also a muscular problem. It’s a small thing but when the problem is muscular, even if it’s small, it’s always one week or two weeks because we don’t want to take any risks", he said.

Nigeria will face the Crocodiles of Lesotho in the opening game before facing Zimbabwe in the second match.

The Foxes will take on rival Leeds United at Elland Road on Friday as they continue their quest to return to the Premier League.
