Ndidi Set For New Manager as Besiktas Sack Solskjaer

Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, will now work under a new manager at Besiktas just weeks after joining the Turkish club, following the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Istanbul giants confirmed Solskjaer’s exit in a statement released on Thursday night.

The former Manchester United boss took charge of Besiktas in January and guided them to a fourth-place finish last season.

However, their European campaign ended in disappointment after a 1-0 home defeat to Swiss side Lausanne in the Europa Conference League play-offs, which saw them lose 2-1 on aggregate.

Ndidi featured for the full 90 minutes in the second-leg clash, where Nathan Butler-Adedeji scored the decisive goal in first-half stoppage time.

Besiktas’ woes deepened when defender Felix Uduokhai was shown a straight red card early in the second half.

 “Our contract with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been terminated following a decision made at a board meeting,” the club announced.

 “Chairman Serdal Adalı thanked Solskjaer for his services to date.”

It was the second European exit of the season for Besiktas, who had earlier been knocked out of the Europa League qualifiers by Shakhtar Donetsk.

Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder and coach, Nuri Şahin, has already been linked with the vacant managerial position.
