Newly appointed Atalanta head coach, Ivan Juric, is eager to retain Nigerian international and reigning CAF African Player of the Year, Ademola Lookman, amid transfer interest from top European clubs, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Lookman has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bergamo-based side, with clubs like Napoli, Juventus, Barcelona, and Arsenal reportedly monitoring his situation. However, Juric has made it clear that he wants the dynamic forward to remain at the club.
Speaking to Calcio Napoli, the former Torino manager stated that he has not asked the board to consider selling any key players, including Lookman.
“The idea is to keep both Lookman and Ederson. The club has a clear vision for the transfer market, but I haven’t made any player requests—not even for those I’ve previously coached,” Juric said.
Lookman enjoyed an outstanding campaign last season, scoring 22 goals and providing 5 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.
The 27-year-old has one year remaining on his contract with Atalanta, and it remains to be seen whether the club will offer him an extension.
